Market Insight Report-July 2024
2024-08-01
  • TI

The MCU sector is facing shortages, with extended lead times from original manufacturers unable to meet customer demand. Industrial sector demand appears to have bottomed out, potentially signaling a rebound in industrial need.

  • Infineon

Introduced the STM32H5 series products. Due to sluggish demand in both industrial and consumer sectors, general MCU sales revenue decreased in Q2 2024.

  • ST

Automotive demand declined in Q2 2024, with no improvement in industrial customer orders, such as for the STM32F030C8T6 microcontroller. Despite ample stock availability, customer demand primarily focuses on cost reduction.

  • Murata

Products like multilayer inductors and magnetic beads saw price increases of up to 20%.

  • NXP

NXP indicates that the automotive inventory digestion is slower than expected, potentially heightening inventory risks in the automotive category. Overall demand remains subdued, focused primarily on inventory depletion, with the majority of demand concentrated in the automotive sector. Additionally, attention should be given to the new products launched under the NXP 32K3 series, known for their high cost-performance ratio.

  • Micronchip

Microchip demand softened this month with ample supply in the spot market, prompting many factories to engage in extensive sales activities. The MRDIMM series is set for bulk shipments in the latter half of 2024; however, Microchip anticipates lower-than-expected revenues and earnings per share for this quarter as customers continue to clear excess inventory

  • ADI

Demand for legacy products rebounded with significant price volatility. ADI maintained stable lead times, but delivery times for automotive and industrial products exceeded 26 weeks. Continuous growth in automotive chip demand is expected in the second half of the year, potentially leading to slight price increases for ADI.

  • Renesas

Overall lead times remained stable, with shortened lead times for MCUs. Stocks of automotive materials like ISLxx and HD64xX increased, causing price fluctuations. Current supply shortages have been resolved, and inventory is gradually being depleted. Slow growth in automotive demand is anticipated throughout the year.

  • Broadcom

With increasing AI demand, Broadcom's BCM56980 series, BCM5699 series, and particularly the BCM56990 are in high demand. While there has been a slight price decline for PCIe-Switch 5.0, traditional server products and the communication market remain sluggish with high inventory levels. Most parts are in a backlog state, with minimal fluctuations in both industrial and consumer sectors.

  • Xilinx

In June 2024, Xilinx made significant product adjustments, impacting the market notably. Discontinued product series include the XC9500XL, CoolRunner XPLA3, CoolRunner II, Spartan II, Spartan3, 3A, 3AN, 3E, and 3ADSP. This discontinuation provides an opportunity for other FPGA manufacturers to expand their market share, competitors like  Intel's Altera have introduced competitive FPGA products.
